DSNYs curbside compost collection program will collect food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard waste. The service is free and voluntary, but residents must sign up here. The program is open to residential buildings of all sizes in selected Community Districts (see a district map here). Multi-unit apartment buildings must have management approval, so ask your building management or board members to sign up. If you are in an eligible neighborhood, DSNY will notify the building representative when service will start in your area.
