UWSR ECO LETTER
The Department of Sanitation (DSNY) is resuming residential curbside compost collection (brown bins) in the Fall. Therefore, Reclaimed Organics will be stopping its drop-off service on September 29th (currently at the Mobilization for Change Community Garden at 107th St and Columbus Ave) and they encourage everyone to sign up for the DSNY program here. Info: (347) 395-6377; info@ReclaimedOrganics.org.
DSNYs curbside compost collection program will collect food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard waste. The service is free and voluntary, but residents must sign up here. The program is open to residential buildings of all sizes in selected Community Districts (see a district map here). Multi-unit apartment buildings must have management approval, so ask your building management or board members to sign up. If you are in an eligible neighborhood, DSNY will notify the building representative when service will start in your area.
It’s Easy Being Green (IEBG) is a neighborhood education and personal action group that offers guidance and encouragement for getting your building started with composting. Contact: email@example.com
Just read your newsletter. It's excellent. Congrats on a fine job... I will put [it] on our list of NYC resources.
