WHY YOU SHOULD CARE
There’s no single, magical solution to the environmental problems human beings have imposed upon this planet. The issues are complex and require a variety of approaches.
But each one of the billions of us can play a part and can make a difference. By acting locally our individual actions can have a global effect, for these small local actions taken together are significant when enough people participate, just like the accumulation of rain drops in our upstate reservoirs.
This is to say that what each of us does individually really matters, and it really makes a difference.
Each kilowatt hour of electricity we save means that much less carbon dioxide is produced to warm our planet. Each plastic straw we don’t buy means that much less pollution of our oceans. Each computer monitor or TV we recycle means that much less lead is in our environment. These are only a few of the many ways you can make a difference.
Many people and groups are working on these issues – locally in Manhattan, throughout the U.S. and around the world. But these people and groups can be effective only if they connect with others to gain the influence necessary to accomplish their environmental goals.
Our UWSR Eco Letter is intended to facilitate and increase communication among these people in our local community, so we can maximize our contribution to the overall global effect.

Wow, this is the most informative email I have ever received! I love the recycling break down. Thank you!
